Vehicle fire

What to do

  1. If driving: stop safely and turn off engine. Help people out only without entering fire.
  2. Move everyone at least 31 metres away and out of traffic. Move farther if instructed.
  3. From safety, call and report the fire location and anyone missing.
  4. Child/person needing assistance: accompany only along safe exit, no re-entry. Unable to escape: give exact location/mobility to rescue. No improvised rope/unsafe stair carrying.
  5. Do not open hood/trunk or return for belongings. Trapped person: give seat/vehicle/fuel/battery if known. Firefighters now. No approaching to confirm or cut wires.31m does not guarantee safety.
