What to do
- Heavy/uncontrolled bleeding: firm pressure with clean cloth and emergency help now, before prolonged washing. Ask another. Unable to press, get help.
- Get medical care even for a small-looking wound.
- Wash with soap and water at least 15 minutes. Ask for rabies and tetanus assessment.
- Scratch, animal saliva in wound/eye/mouth or direct bat contact: urgent rabies assessment even without visible bite. No handling animal to identify it or symptom waiting.
- After washing, cover clean. Hand/foot/face/head, hot/swollen wound, fluid/pus or fever: urgent care. Torn-off part: amputation guide. Ask company/transport. No driving with severe injury.
What to avoid
- Do not wait for symptoms or animal observation before seeking care.
