Fall injury

What to do

  1. Get help by phone or shouting. Cover yourself with what you can reach.
  2. If unable to get up or in severe pain, stop trying.
  3. Child after fall: changed behaviour, marked sleepiness or seizure needs urgent help. Under1year head swelling/bruise/large cut: emergency help. Do not lift to test.
  4. Immediate danger or blocked airway: only necessary movement, follow dispatcher. No unsafe solo transfer. Another calls while you help. Give location/access.
  5. Give location and event. Report breathing trouble, faintness or heavy bleeding. Ask company. No further attempts to stand or drive.
  6. No reachable phone: shout or tap wall/floor without straining injury. Cover with reachable items. With possible injury, avoid unnecessary rolling. Later ask assessment of fall cause.

What to avoid

  1. Do not lift them by pulling arms or legs.
