What to do
- Swollen mouth/tongue, breathing difficulty or fainting: emergency help now.
- Severe allergy: lie down, no walking. Breathing worse lying: sit with legs extended. Use own available adrenaline autoinjector and severe allergy guide. Call now, do not wait for cream/antihistamine.
- Scorpion sting: seek medical care immediately. Use a cold compress. Do not touch the animal.
- Wash with soap and water. For local insect swelling, use a cold cloth for 20 minutes.
- After a spider bite: severe pain, purple patch or dark urine need urgent care.
- Mouth/throat/near eye, multiple stings, previous severe allergy, dizziness/vomiting or worsening: urgent medical help. Breathing trouble or no response: emergency. Under1year: medical advice even apparently local.
- Scorpion: care now even without visible lesion. Report child, pregnancy or older person with illness. More vulnerable. No delay identifying animal or for compress. Ask accompanied transport.
- Attached tick only: fine tweezers, grasp close to skin, pull slowly upward without squeezing body. Then soap/water. Unable to remove safely: medical help. Later fever/illness or round rash: consult, state date.
What to avoid
- Do not squeeze, suck or burn the sting. No home remedies.
