Instructions for helping someone else

Bag snatching

What to do

  1. First move away without increasing danger. Help only from somewhere safe.
  2. If a bag is being grabbed, do not risk your safety to recover it.
  3. From safety, tell police: location, injuries, weapons and where the offender went.
  4. Report injuries and request medical help.
  5. Once you are safe, ask someone you trust to stay with you, away from the attacker. Tell them where you are and whether you can move or speak. If danger returns, go to another safe place and report it. Do not wait to collect evidence.

What to avoid

  1. Do not chase, confront or try to take the weapon.
  2. Do not give PINs or passwords to anyone contacting you claiming they can recover your property.
