Clothes or person on fire

What to do

  1. Do not run. Drop, cover your face and roll until fire stops.
  2. If unable to roll, ask for help smothering flames with a blanket.
  3. Once flames are out: cool the burn with cool running water for 20 minutes. Get emergency help for large, deep or facial burns.
  4. Child/person needing assistance: accompany only along safe exit, no re-entry. Unable to escape: give exact location/mobility to rescue. No improvised rope/unsafe stair carrying.
  5. After fire out: cool burn only, keep rest warm. Do not cover breathing face or pull stuck clothes. Smoke/hoarseness/facial burn: emergency now. No20min delay to call/CPR.
