What to do
- Noise alone does not establish violence. Calls for help or immediate danger: emergency help. Otherwise use a local nonurgent channel. Stay out rather than investigate.
- Calls for help or possible violence: call from protection. Say what you heard, where from and when. Do not claim a cause you did not see.
- During a weapons attack: escape only by a safe route. If unable, hide, secure the door and silence your phone. Call when safe.
- Threat or immediate danger: call emergency services. Without immediate danger: use the local non-urgent channel.
- Wait somewhere protected. Report if unable to leave or speak. Without a phone, ask someone to call from safety. Report changing danger.
- If hearing is limited, report only what you observed. Ask for communication help. Do not rely on an unverified messaging channel for dispatch.
What to avoid
- Do not confront or approach to investigate. Your safety comes first.
- During weapons attack, turn off vibration too. Do not emerge to film or shout from hiding.
