Seizure during pregnancy or after birth

What to do

  1. If able to speak: report pregnancy or recent birth. Severe headache or unusual vision: immediate assessment.
  2. After a seizure, get help even if it stopped. Ask someone to stay.
  3. Severe headache, blurred vision, pain under ribs or breathlessness: report now. Do not drive. State pregnancy or when the baby was born.

What to avoid

  1. Do not restrain her or put anything in her mouth.
  2. No food or drink until fully recovered.
