Electric shock

What to do

  1. Do not touch them while still connected. Switch off power only from a safe place.
  2. Downed cable, high voltage or possibly live water: keep away, request professional isolation. No entering water or stick/rope rescue. No sparks does not prove safety. Open downed cable guide.
  3. Call emergency services. Approach only once power is confirmed off.
  4. If unresponsive: call emergency services. If breathing is abnormal, start CPR with dispatcher guidance.
  5. After safely separated, medical assessment even for small skin mark. Chest pain, palpitations, confusion, seizure or breathing trouble: emergency help. Tell team child/pregnancy/fall/burn.
  6. Power safely off: rest, company and warmth of unburned areas. Burn: open burn guide. Fall/neck injury: no walking. Unresponsive with abnormal breathing: age CPR. Do not attempt equipment repair.

What to avoid

  1. Do not use sticks, water or ropes to separate someone without training.
