What to do
- Avoid sudden movements. Explain before you need to move.
- Do not protect money or activate an alarm if it exposes you.
- From safety, tell police: location, injuries, weapons and where the offender went.
- Once safe, wait for police instructions. Write your account without comparing stories.
- Once you are safe, ask someone you trust to stay with you, away from the attacker. Tell them where you are and whether you can move or speak. If danger returns, go to another safe place and report it. Do not wait to collect evidence.
What to avoid
- Do not chase, confront or try to take the weapon.
- Do not touch robbery items to investigate. Helping injured people takes priority.
