Instructions for helping someone else

Bank robbery

What to do

  1. First move away without increasing danger. Help only from somewhere safe.
  2. If outside, do not enter during the robbery. From safety, call even if an alarm sounded.
  3. From safety, tell police: location, injuries, weapons and where the offender went.
  4. Report injuries and request medical help.
  5. Write what you saw without approaching the offender. Tell police.
  6. Once you are safe, ask someone you trust to stay with you, away from the attacker. Tell them where you are and whether you can move or speak. If danger returns, go to another safe place and report it. Do not wait to collect evidence.

What to avoid

  1. Do not chase, confront or try to take the weapon.
  2. Do not touch robbery items to investigate. Helping injured people takes priority.
