What to do

  1. Do not enter water to reach a person or vehicle. Call and help from firm ground only without endangering yourself.
  2. From firm ground, call and report vehicle location, occupants, water entering or movement. Do not try to tow it yourself.
  3. If you can communicate without entering water, direct them to these steps and rescuers. Immediately report rising water inside.
  4. From firm ground: if sinking, belts/window/children first/out now, no call delay. Do not enter water or attach yourself to car. Tell rescue drifting/sinking/disappearance.

What to avoid

  1. Do not walk, swim or drive through floodwater, even if it looks shallow. Obey barriers. Holes, cables or damaged roads may be hidden under the water.
