Instructions for helping yourself

Immediate self-harm or suicide risk

What to do

  1. If already harmed or you feel you might act now, call emergency services or ask someone to call for you.
  2. Tell someone you trust: “I am at risk. Stay with me.” Go with them to a safe place if you can do so safely.
  3. You can call 155 for psychological crisis support in Paraguay. For immediate danger, get emergency help first.
  4. If you have a safety plan, show your companion and ask for help following it. You do not have to solve everything now.
  5. If unanswered or unable to call, ask someone nearby to call and stay with you. In danger now: do not wait alone for a crisis line.

What to avoid

  1. Do not blame, challenge or threaten. Do not forcefully take objects away.
  2. Avoid alcohol and drugs while getting help.
