Instructions for helping someone else

I need help, not sure what to choose

What to do

  1. Check danger to yourself before approaching. Do not enter smoke, gas, dangerous water or traffic.
  2. Ask what happened and what help they need. For immediate danger, do not wait to name the case.
  3. For danger now, request emergency help without waiting to know the cause. Say what you see and where you are.
  4. If unresponsive: call emergency services. If breathing is abnormal, start CPR with dispatcher guidance.
  5. If safe, stay with them. Watch response/breathing and report changes to the dispatcher.
  6. No phone or connection: ask someone nearby to call from safety. Give location and what is happening. Do not wait for an automatic app alert.

What to avoid

  1. Do not improvise medication for an unknown cause.
  2. Do not delay asking for help while searching for the exact category.
